Where to Buy Flowers in NYC
I finally found the best place to get flowers on the fly in NYC and I’m excited to share my secret with you guys!
Everything happens for a reason
I finally found the best place to get flowers in the city! A couple of years ago I thought my local flower market was going to be my go-to place to grab flowers, but ever since we started going to the plant district on 28th and 7th, I’ve realized that there are better places to grab flowers, and I’m happy to be sharing my secret with you. You’re welcome. For, probably a year Jord and I have been talking about getting plants for the apartment, so the weekend we got back from Tulum we decided it was the perfect time to hop on our plant dream – especially with all of the inspiration we had coming out of the trip. I also want to say that it’s hard for me to put too much effort into a rental apartment that I know is only temporary, this is why it took us so long to get plants. But since we now know we will be here a bit longer, we decided to bite the bullet!
Back to the story. So when we were up in the plant district after Tulum I soon realized that it doubled as the flower district, which is confusing. After getting home I did some research on places to buy flowers in that area – 28th and 7th – and saw that Associated Flowers was a good place to start – but it wasn’t where I got these!
Something you also need to know is that the flower shops on that block are WHOLESALE; they sell to various shops around town. With that said, make sure to check the hours because most of them are only open from 5am – 11am for that reason. They must close as soon as all of their orders go out. Before realizing these crazy hours though, I had a couple attempts at getting flowers. The day I finally bought these Peonies I had attempted to go to Associated Flowers as recommended by Google. I called ahead and spoke with someone who said they were open, but when I got there, they were closed. Needless to say I was defeated and didn’t think I’d ever get flowers. UGH the agony!
BUT… While walking back towards 7th ave I saw this man pop out of his shop, J & P Flowers, like he was about to close – he could tell I was upset (lol) – so he asked me what I wanted. I told him Peonies, and turns out, he had every single color Peony. He brought me to the back and opened a big wooden door and said “what would you like.” I told him, everything.
I’m kidding.
I asked for 3 bunches, which were $30 a piece and I left a happy girl. I initially thought that $30 a bunch was a bit much, but something I didn’t realize was how much the flowers would bloom. I probably only needed one or two bunches. A day after we took these photos the Peonies grew 2x in size and they lasted me about 2 weeks. So worth it.
I’m so happy I found J & P Flowers. They will definitely be my go-to flower shop in the future, as long as I can get there in time before they close! If you’re ever in the city visiting and need flowers on the fly, head over to 28th and 7th. If you’re facing East, J & P Flowers in on your left, Plants are on the right 🙂 I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. The shop owners at Associated Flowers were pretty rude, and the man an J & P Flowers was so nice, he made for such a wonderful experience!
