A Weekend in Ludlow Vermont

Two weeks ago a bunch of my friends and I rented a house in Ludlow, Vermont for the weekend. Our cabin was right outside of town. It slept 12 people, had a wood-burning fireplace, plenty of room for activities, and a big kitchen. Everything we needed for 2 nights in the woods.

We had the perfect weekend getaway

Two weeks ago a bunch of my friends and I rented a house in Ludlow, Vermont for the weekend. Our cabin was right outside of town. It slept 12 people, had a wood-burning fireplace, plenty of room for activities, and a big kitchen. Everything we needed for 2 nights in the woods. I’d been trying to get up to Vermont for a while; since last year. Being from upstate NY I’ve been to Vermont and New Hampshire many times, but never as an adult. I’d recently been trying to figure out a trip that made sense, and this was it. Ludlow/Okemo was that quintessential Vermont town that you think of when you picture Vermont. It was exactly what I was looking for!

What to do in Ludlow Vermont
The first morning we woke up to sun, and fresh snow that had fallen the night before. It was bitter cold but absolutely gorgeous. Because we’ve had hardly any snow this winter in NYC it was so special! A few friends decided to ski, but the rest of us decided that we’d either explore the town, or get massages at the Okemo Ski Lodge. I was eager to see the town, so of course Jordan and I decided to forego massages and stick with some exploring. More our speed 🙂

Before our drive, I wanted to get into town and grab some coffee at this cafe I found called Sweet Surrender Bakery. It was super small, but the girl who waited on us was really sweet (pun intended). We had missed breakfast, but settled for a delicious lemon tart and cappuccino!  I highly recommend it if you’re in town. After some fuel we took to the road for our drive. We stopped to take so many photos because it was so gorgeous outside. We got lost for about 2 hours before we decided to turn back into town and meet up with the rest of the crew.

Locals recommended a handful of options for drinks and dinner, though we only ended up taking them up on one because of time; Main and Mountain which I highly recommend. It’s a cozy cocktail bar with FABULOUS drinks, as well as some nice high-end snacks; pickled vegetables, meat and cheese plates, pretzels with dipping sauces etc. We all spent the majority of our afternoon here because we loved it so much, hence why we were only able to go to one of the spots recommended. I would go back to Ludlow in a heart beat, and am secretly hoping that my group makes this an annual trip because of how much fun it was. While we were there only 2 nights and didn’t get to visit as many bars and restaurants we wanted to, I felt like we had the perfect weekend getaway.
