A Morning in Montmare
We spent a few hours in Montmare on our last full day in Paris and it was beautiful on top of the hill. You’re able to overlook the entire city and immerse yourself in so much art and culture.
The best croissant in Paris while we were in Montmare
Before returning to Paris, from Annecy, we made the decision to make our last two days in Paris more spontaneous and carefree. We still wanted to make sure that we saw what we could, we just simply wanted to do it in a more relaxed way. We were honestly exhausted from all the running around we’d been doing for 4 days prior and wanted to make sure that we weren’t putting unnecessary pressure on our remaining time in town. The day we got back to Paris we went right to Île Saint Louis, it was so wonderful! I did a full blog post about Saint Louis a couple of weeks ago.
We visited Montmare early in the morning on our last full day. We thought we were getting there early, around 10am, but it wasn’t quite early enough! If we did it again, we would try to get there around 9am. We climbed the stairs to the top, and in doing so, realized we should probably lay off the croissants. Speaking of croissants, I had the best croissant in Paris while we were in Montmare – I ate it so fast that I didn’t get a photo, but you have to take my word for it. The place is called Au Levain d’Antan. Once we had our croissants and coffee we continued to climb and the views just kept getting better and better.
The very top of Montmare is filled with little bars and restaurants. There are tons of aspiring artists and photographers making art. It was so cool to watch! We later found the church, which looked like an abstract painting from afar, it was so gorgeous! I really wish we had more time there. We unfortunately had to leave soon after we arrived because we had lunch reservations that we couldn’t miss at Breizh. Always eating.
