Getting “appy”

There are a million apps floating around in the “app-mousphere.” I love apps –  think they’re great, and without them, any smart phone user wouldn’t know what to do with their phone, except use it for what it is – a phone. I download different games here and there since they are a great way to pass time on my subway rides, then normally end up deleting them soon-after once I get to a level I can’t beat (which is often), or a level that requires me to pay the $1.99 that I just can’t quite commit to. Of course there are many apps outside of games, like Photography, Music, Social Media, Sports, Food (Seamless and Grub Hub) and more which I equally enjoy for a time, but then there comes a point when I realize that some of them just don’t serve me a purpose. They become wasted space on my phone and soak up all my battery.

With the help of my friends, I’ve discovered a some new apps that I love, and I know I will hold on to, since they do serve me a purpose in my day-to-day life.  I’ve listed two of my new favorites for you below.

1. Duolingo –  This app gives you the opportunity to learn a new language for free. Forever. It was voted Apple’s choice of app of the year and after I downloaded it and started to use Duolingo I could easily see why. Duolingo makes it fun and easy to learn a new language, and I am constantly challenged. The best way to learn a new language is through repetition – which is exactly what this app provides. I am currently learning Italian since I want to travel to Italy in the next couple of years. I feel confident that after using Duolingo I will feel comfortable enough to speak Italian to anyone in Italy. I give this app 5 stars

2. Gojee – I love food, which is exactly why my best friend thought it would be a great idea to introduce me to this app. If you like pinterest, and use it mainly for food recipes you will love Gojee. Unlike pinterest, Gojee curates hand-selected recipes from some of the best food and drink writers in the world. I personally prefer Gojee over pinterest for my go-to hand-held food recipes. I feel like Gojee provides me with a better since of what I am going to end up with for my final product. There is a wide assortment of food and drink recipes on this app that don’t look like an insane task to tackle. I can not tell you how many times I’ve seen a picture of food on pinterest that I thought looked amazing, I bought all the ingredients, made it, and it turned out horrible. So far I give this app 4 stars.

A Fall Day

The weather this weekend could not have been better, it was the perfect fall weekend. The temperature was in the mid 60’s and then sun was shining. We decided to head to brunch in the West Village since it is normally a bit more scenic than the other areas in Manhattan, and I wanted to see the leaves changing. As we sat down to look at the menus Jordan mentioned there were a few people inside from the cast of Orange in the New Black! Of course, my back was to them so I couldn’t stare at them for my entire meal but I was so excited since I was due for a celebrity sighting. I made sure to get up and go to the bathroom a couple times so I could walk by their table. Seeing them at brunch made my day!

I am loving my new funnel neck coat (here) this is a perfect piece for fall. It’s form fitting, yet gives me enough room to put a couple layers underneath when it starts to get a bit colder. I bought it last week and have been wearing it just about everyday! I also am wearing a new chambray shirt (here) that I love. I feel like you can’t really go wrong with chambray, I sometimes hate to admit that I love wearing the good ‘ole Canadian tuxedo as well. Because this shirt is color-blocked I feel it as a bit more umph to my look.
