Anyone who knows me knows I always complain about my back pain. I have sciatica, which sucks – and I’m also currently dealing with issues with my slipped disk. I swear I’m young!
Of course it’s not a surprise that I have back issues either, especially when I’m sitting at a desk for 9 hours a day, slouching at my computer. In order to be proactive about my health, I just recently started to switch up my routine at work, and now instead of sitting, I stand all day – thanks to our standing desks that move up and down depending on whether you want to sit or stand.
There were a few articles I was reading, before I became more strict with myself to stand, including this one, which relates sitting all day to smoking. I’m not 100% on board if that makes sense, but the article was interesting nonetheless. I also liked this article because it touches on the amount of calories you burn sitting vs. standing – also another good reason to try and stand for as long as you can!
When I started my new routine, it took me a few days to get used to standing all day, but now it doesn’t even phase me. Since I’ve been standing so much for the past 2 weeks (also with the help of Physique 57) my back has been feeling so much better.
My new health motto is stand more, sit less and dance, dance, dance!
